Peabody Hill Community Hall

The Peabody Hill Community Hall is situated at the top of Thurlow Hill. There are fine views over much of south London.

Opposite the centre there is a quiet allotment site. There is also a lovely woodland walk 3mins from the hall.

Currently there are engineering works on the Victoria Underground Line so if you travel to Brixton there might be delays or even closed stations, we advise that you take the Northern Line Underground to Stockwell and take bus #2 from there to Thurlow Park road. You may also go via overground but there might be delays. Please know that this will go on indefinetly.

Underground:
Brixton Underground Station is the nearest tube station. You will need to take a bus from outside the tube to the Peabody Hall which takes between 15-20 minutes.

Trains:
Nearest British rail train station is: Tulse Hill (approximately 5 to 8 minutes walk to hall). Herne Hill is around 20minutes walk along the Norwood Road side of the park to the Peabody Hall.

Buses:
The main getting off point for those coming by bus is the traffic light intersection between Norwood Road and Tulse hill and Thurlow Park Road.

Bus 192
From Brixton Underground Station:
Turn left outside the station and walk a few meters to the number 192 bus stop. You will get off at the Thurlow Park Road Bus stop on Norwood Road just before the intersection of Norwood Road and Thurlow Park Road. This bus ride should take approximately 15 minutes (approx. 2 Km from Brixton Tube stn. When the bus passes Brockwell Park on your right, you will be approximately 2 bus stops from the getting off point on Norwood Road.) Walk a few meters to the traffic lights then turn left onto Thurlow Park Road. Passing the over head train bridge, turn left onto Birbeck Hill. Walk to top where Birbeck Hill meets Thurlow Hill. Keep to left. The Peabody Hall is 60meters from this intersection. An easy walk from the bus stop to the hall should take about 5/6 minutes.

Bus 2
Turn left outside Brixton tube station and find no.2 bus stop. This is an almost straight ride along Tulse Hill to Thurlow Park Road and takes around 15minutes. Get off just before the intersection with Norwood Road. This bus will turn right at intersection and stop near Tulse Hill train station. Thurlow Park Road is a continuation of Tulse Hill. If you get off just before the main crossing, continue through lights onto Thurlow park Road. Passing under the train bridge, turn left onto Birbeck Hill. Walk to top where Birbeck Hill meets Thurlow Hill. Keep to left. The Peabody Hall is 60meters from this intersection. An easy walk from the bus stop to the hall should take about 5-6 minutes.

Bus 201
From Streatham Train Station and Streatham Hill Bus station:
This bus passes the above stations and actually goes along Thurlow Park Road. Travel time approximately 10 minutes. (from bus stop: 3minutes walk to hall).

Bus 322
Clapham Common & Clapham North tube stations:
If you are travelling from Clapham, Bus322 passes by both Clapham Common Tube and Clapham North tube stations and along Brixton Atlantic Road (turn left outside Brixton underground station; under bridge then first right. Cross road for the 322 bus stop). Ask the driver to put you off at the junction of Norwood Road and Thurlow Park Road. Walk a few meters to the traffic lights then turn left onto Thurlow Park Road. Passing the train bridge, turn left onto Birbeck Hill. Walk to top where Birbeck Hill meets Thurlow Hill. Keep to left. The Peabody Hall is 60meters from this intersection. An easy walk from the bus stop to the hall should take about 5-6 minutes.
