One Sangha Gathering

Monte Sahaja, Portugal

The Sangha is your family, your teacher, your Guru. The Sangha is your Heartland and they are your devotees. This is true Sangha – the embodiment of Grace.

Sangha plays many and varied roles in the life of a true seeker. When you are in despair, separated or alone, they surround you with love, they will comfort you. True sangha respect each other, protect each other, bless each other, guide and pray for each other. Wherever you find each other in the world, if one is in need, you should serve them what they need with loving kindness and compassion, because we are one family, living in truth and called by the same voice.

ABOUT

With gratitude to Moojibaba, we are happy to announce the One Sangha Gathering 2019 at Monte Sahaja.

This gathering is a powerful opportunity for many of the Sangha groups around the world to connect in the spirit of Truth—not merely conceptually, but experientially! It is Moojibaba’s wish and blessing that each one comes into the complete discovery of their true, unchanging and timeless nature. The spiritually charged environment of Monte Sahaja is a great support and inspiration for all genuine seekers of Truth.

Monte Sahaja
Monte Sahaja is situated in the region of Alentejo in Portugal. Its varied terrain offers many beautiful spaces to explore, such as small ponds, hidden paths and vistas, and quiet places for meditation and contemplation. There are some steep hills and valleys, which can feel demanding in the beginning of your stay. However, many people adapt very well in a relatively short span of time.

‘Each one may come with the attitude not merely of a ‘person’ or only as an individual, but also as a representative of your home Sangha. Like this, you carry your Sangha inside your heart and so receive the highest benefit whilst inspiring those around you. We have found, to our delight, that many beings seem to have their entire Sangha standing with them in presence. We sense that your Sangha benefits from your experience here with an open heart. You are invited, if and as you feel the urge in your heart, to represent your Sangha in whatever needs they may have, and what things you might want to have clarified so that we might serve you best. It is not a time to socialise, but to have genuine encounters with those with whom you feel a spiritual connection.

I send you my full love and blessing and look very much forward to seeing you here at Monte Sahaja.’ ~ Mooji

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

Daily Flow
The One Sangha Gathering is an opportunity to be immersed in the energy field and daily life of Monte Sahaja together with our Sangha family. The day usually starts at 6.30 am with Aarti and Silent Sitting, and ends with an evening program, such as playing a satsang video. Satsang with Moojibaba is not scheduled like during a retreat but may be called spontaneously.

There will also be other activities that are supportive of Satsang, such as laughing yoga and bhajans, as well as time for silent introspection in the many sacred spaces and contemplative areas around the land. This event is a unique way to meet each other from around the world in Sahaja, to share our experiences and grow together.

Meals and Accommodation
The accommodation at Monte Sahaja is comfortable, yet simple and humble, situated throughout the beautiful natural areas of the land. Most of the accommodation available is in tents and dormitories. There are a limited number of other housing options such as wooden huts and row-house rooms. Please be aware that Monte Sahaja is quite hilly and that the accommodation can be a good 5-10 minute walk from the central area.

The tent and dormitory accommodations require you to bring your own sleeping bag, and in the tent option, also a camping mattress and pillow. More information about accommodation will be sent with the registration form.

Most meals are vegetarian. Eggs are served during some meals, and fish may be offered as a side dish. There is an option for gluten free and dairy free diets which you can sign up for when you register.

Costs and donations
There will be no charge for meals and accommodation at Monte Sahaja for those attending the One Sangha Gathering. This event is offered from Moojibaba’s generous heart to bring us together in this way to benefit and grow together as One Sangha. Those who attend only need to cover their travel and other associated costs.

This beautiful gathering is also supported by donations, and those who wish to donate to this event can do so here. We greatly appreciate your support.

Seva
Seva is an ancient spiritual tradition from the east which is the path of selfless service. There may be a few opportunities to come 2-4 weeks earlier to Monte Sahaja to help prepare for this event, but more information will be shared during the registration process.

GUIDELINES

The One Sangha Gathering is for those who are genuinely drawn to Self-discovery. It is an opportunity to be immersed in the spirit of Truth and Moojibaba’s pointings, and to move as one in daily life here at the ashram. This environment is not for the merely curious, but for those with a sincere and wholehearted commitment to Truth.

Each participant is required to follow these guidelines which are in place to support the harmonious flow of the event. Therefore, by attending this gathering you agree to:

  • Approach the gathering with the understanding that it is not a casual event—it is for those earnestly seeking Self-realisation.
  • Come not merely as an individual, but as representatives of your Sangha group so that your Sangha group may also benefit from this gathering in Truth. You can also use this opportunity to bring forward anything that your Sangha may need support with.
  • Attend Satsang whenever it is offered. Please understand and respect that it is only during Satsang that Mooji invites questions—he will not receive questions afterwards.
  • Commit to the full duration of the event. Consider carefully whether you can really come, to avoid cancellations after registration is completed. Please note that if you cancel, it does not automatically mean that another member from your Sangha will take your place.
  • Refrain from using intoxicants or recreational drugs for the duration of the event.
  • Wear modest clothing throughout the gathering, avoiding tight, revealing or transparent clothing.
  • Satsang is not a replacement for any therapy or other medical treatment or diagnosis. If you are currently receiving or have previously received any medical treatment or therapy for issues related to mental health, this event may not be suitable for you. Therefore, for those with a history of serious mental health conditions, it is not advisable to attend this event without confirming with your specialist healthcare practitioner that it is suitable for you. More information can be found here.
  • By attending this event, you agree that your image and voice will be recorded and may possibly be used for the sharing of Satsang on DVD, mp3 and on the Internet. All recorded materials are displayed with great discretion if they are chosen to be shared with the wider Satsang community and are treated with the utmost sensitivity and respect.

HOW TO JOIN

The One Sangha Gathering will take place from 1-10 September and you are able to apply as you are actively part of a registered Mooji Sangha group.

The application process is a little different than in previous years. This year, everyone wishing to attend must fill out an application form.

Each Sangha group is welcome to come together and recommend some people from their sangha to attend. The Sangha host can send these names to onesanghagathering@mooji.org by 12 June. This is useful but not a mandatory step and also does not guarantee anyone a place.

All those wishing to apply (with or without a recommendation) must complete the application form by 12 June 2019. Apply using the button below.

As part of the application process, you can also attach a short video telling us why you would like to join the One Sangha Gathering. This will greatly assist your application so it is highly advised for everyone to do this. Important: there is a video file size limit of 100Mb. Please record your video on the LOWEST QUALITY (likely the VGA setting) in your settings.

English is the preferred language to fill in your application form so if you don’t easily communicate in English, please ask someone to help you. If this is not possible you may also write in your native language.

The applications will then be reviewed by the International Sangha Team at Monte Sahaja. We may, as well, need to use a lottery system after reviewing the applications. Those who are invited to the One Sangha Gathering will receive an email and registration form on 24 June

The registration form should be filled in by each participant and sent back to us by 30 June. You will then receive a confirmation email with travel details and other relevant information about the gathering and your stay at Monte Sahaja.

Please do not book any flights without us confirming that you have a place in the One Sangha Gathering.

Before applying, please ensure that you are available to attend for the whole duration of the event and that you have taken to heart the Guidelines above.

If you wish to apply for a place in One Sangha Gathering, please complete your application by 12 June:

You will receive an email once you complete your application (please check your spam folder first if you don’t receive this email).

FAQS

Application & Registration

Many people follow Moojibaba’s pointings but are not actively in a Sangha Group. Shall we invite or recommend them as well?
The One Sangha Gathering is especially for those who participate in a Sangha Group. Those who are coming to the gathering are not just coming for themselves, but to benefit the Sangha members they interact with in their home country.

There are other opportunities for the wider Sangha to visit Monte Sahaja. Please have a look at mooji.org/monte-sahaja for more information about those opportunities.

Can I bring my child to the Gathering?
No, we cannot accommodate children at the One Sangha Gathering.

For the ones not able to join in Monte Sahaja, will there be a live broadcast or access to any Satsangs that take place for the Sangha groups back home?
There are no scheduled satsangs during One Sangha Gathering; however, they may of course be called spontaneously, and if so the Satsangs will be uploaded to Mooji.TV. More details about this will be shared with the Sangha groups closer to the event. There will not be a live broadcast.

What happens if I cancel my place after my registration is complete?
If you cancel your place after completing the registration process, it does not mean that it is open for someone else from the same Sangha group. As in other events, there will be a waiting list procedure.

We strongly advise that you consider carefully whether you can really attend when applying for the One Sangha Gathering. Make sure you have checked your availability for the dates and ensure that you are familiar with the Guidelines and information provided in this document.

General

Can I come to Monte Sahaja before the gathering starts?
There may be some limited opportunities to come earlier and join the preparation seva program, which means you would come 2-4 weeks earlier and help with the ashram preparations. More information will be shared with those who will be attending the gathering upon registration.

Otherwise it is not possible to come to Monte Sahaja earlier.

Can I stay in Monte Sahaja for some time after the gathering?
It is not possible to stay at Monte Sahaja after the gathering.

When will I know what kind of Seva is available?
More information about Seva will be available to the participants of the gathering in the registration form and confirmation email.

Is it possible for someone with food restrictions and allergies to come to the gathering?
We offer dairy free and gluten free options for every meal. We are not able to offer special meals for any other allergies. Also, it is not possible for participants to prepare their own meals separately.

What should I bring to the gathering? How am I going to get to Monte Sahaja?
Once we have the list of attendees, we will send out the Info Pack with all travel information like arrival and departure, what to bring, housing options and more.

I need a Visa to go to Portugal. How do I get it?
You need to check with the Portuguese embassy in your country what is needed for you to get a visa. It varies from country to country. Please don’t leave this to the last minute as some countries may take up to 3 months in order to grant a visa.
