Q: I am having trouble with the online registration form or with payment. What should I do?
A: Be sure to check that all of your details on the form are correct. Try a different bank card, refresh the page or try a different web browser. If you cannot resolve the problem, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Q: How can I be sure that I am properly registered?
A: Your registration is secured when you have received your booking confirmation via email even if your payment didn’t go through.
Q: What happens if my payment didn’t go through?
A: Your place will still be received in the booking system and you will receive an email. Zmar will then get in touch with you about alternative payment methods and send you the final booking confirmation once your payment has gone through.
Q: Can I bring my child to the retreat?
A: No, we cannot accommodate children at this retreat.

Q: My plane arrival times don’t match with the departure times of the train from Lisbon or Faro, so I decided to rent a car. Can you recommend somewhere where I can offer to share a ride?
A: Please use the Zmar Facebook page to connect with others to travel together or to share a ride.
Q: My plane arrival times don’t match with the departure times of the train from Lisbon or Faro. Can I take a later train or bus?
A: Yes, there are some guidelines to help you make your own arrangements to get to Zmar. But please know that the train station is remote; it is better to take a bus to Odemira. Taxis are not available unless arranged ahead of time. See more information on the transportation page.
About the Retreat
Q: Is this a silent retreat?
A: All retreats with Mooji are conducted in silence.
Q: A friend who does not speak English wants to register for a retreat with Mooji. Is that okay?
A: Yes, that’s possible as long as people are familiar with the guidelines and let us know beforehand. We do offer live translation in different languages. For this service please check the ‘Live Translation’ page.
Q: Can I read or write during the retreat?
A: No. Please refrain from reading, writing, using the internet, drawing, singing, or any form of expressive art, as we are requesting you to drop all outer activities for the duration of the retreat. Sri Mooji encourages us to turn our attention inward and make use of the opportunity not to be distracted by any habitual activity. This excludes books written by Sri Mooji and any other books that are offered in the Sangha Shop.
About Physical Condition
Q: I read that some of the accommodations at Zmar are far from the Satsang hall. How far is my accommodation from toilet facilities, Satsang space or dining area?
A: The terrain at Zmar is flat, but some of the rooms are a 10-20 minutes’ walk from the Satsang Hall and dining area, depending on the type of accommodation. Zmar offers bicycles for rent.
Q: I can’t sit on the floor. Can I sit on a chair?
A: Zmar has plenty of chairs with back support available.
Q: Do you provide cushions to sit on the floor?
A: No, we advise to bring your own meditation cushion if you wish to sit on the floor.
Q: I have a food intolerance. Will there be any alternatives to wheat or dairy?
A: During registration you can choose between vegetarian and non vegetarian meals and can also tick whether you would need gluten and/or dairy free. The meals offered will be tasty, simple, and wholesome. It is difficult to meet the needs of those requiring special diets. Where needed for medical reasons only, we will provide an alternative. It will be your responsibility to let us know if you have special dietary needs due to medical issues.
Q: I am not sure if I should choose the vegetarian or non-vegetarian option. Can I change my choice once I arrive at Zmar?
A: No, we ask that you make a choice and honour it. If you enjoy meat or fish, choose the non-vegetarian option. All dinners are vegetarian regardless of your choice.
Q: Will I be able to use the internet during the retreat?
A: Zmar will not offer wi-fi or internet access during this retreat, and there are no internet facilities nearby. You are highly encouraged to not use the internet during the retreat and to switch off your mobile device. This is out of respect for your satsang and for the satsang of all the participants.
Q: What is the weather like in this part of Portugal?
A: The weather in Portugal is very changeable. It is best to bring layers so you are prepared for all kinds of weather. The days are often very hot in the summer and cool down a lot at night. You can check the weather for Odemira here.
If you are camping we highly recommend that you bring a good sleeping bag for low temperatures.
Q: Do we have to bring our own bed linen and towels?
A: If you are staying in a tent, either rented or your own, you must bring all your own bedding and camping gear, unless you booked a ‘Camping Kit’ in addition to your camping space and/or rented tent. Even in this case, bring extra blankets to make sure you are warm enough at night. If you are staying in a house or shared room, Zmar will provide your bed linen and towels. When you are making use of the Spa you are asked to bring your own towel(s).

Q: Do I need a visa to come to Portugal?
A: For some countries a visa is required before entering Portugal. You will need to check with the Embassy or travel agency in your own country about the necessary visa requirements before your departure dates. This information is also easily found on the Internet.
Make sure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond the completion of your trip or you may not be allowed to travel.
