A daily morning and evening exercise:
Choose to be alone and to keep quiet for fifteen minutes. Detach yourself from all that appears in the mind or through the senses. Do not try to control the mind. Simply stay empty and aware but not of anything in particular.
Let whatever comes come; simply refuse to engage or control. Remain only aware of being aware, apart and uninvolved.
Spontaneously, it will become clear and obvious that everything comes and goes by themselves, but yourself is like an empty and unchanging space—peaceful, content and unaffected by the traffic of the mind and world. Discover yourself to be that in which the mind, personal self and its world appears and disappears. You remain untouched as pure beingness.
