In Honour of Pope Francis
17 December 1936 – 21 April 2025

We would like to take a moment to honour and commemorate the life of His Holiness, Pope Francis.

Pope Francis was widely regarded as a man of deep humility, compassion and kindness, and served as a moral and spiritual guide to millions of people around the world. From Argentina, he was the first non-European pope in over a millennium, and chose to be called Francis in honour of Saint Francis of Assisi. He also chose a more informal approach to the papacy, living in the guest house rather than the palace, and driving in a simple car. Throughout his time as the head of the Catholic Church, he was known for representing and caring for those who were most vulnerable—the poor, victims of war, and those displaced and marginalized. He showed a deep commitment to alleviating suffering and promoting unity wherever he could.

May all those mourning his death find solace and rest in the love, peace, and compassion of God that Pope Francis sought to impart and inspire.

“I want to walk with you along the way of God’s mercy and tenderness.”

~ Pope Francis
