In Loving Memory of Zenji Frank Ganz
Our beloved Sangha brother and dear friend, Zenji, left the body peacefully on 23 April 2026 at 11:00 pm in Portugal. He was held in the grace of his devoted caring team, with Moojibaba’s presence and love close at hand.
There was truly no one like Zenji, and we adore him—a rare and iconic character who lived simply, laughed heartily, served selflessly and loved without condition. To look at Zenji was to see a man completely free from the burden of ‘image.’ He was famously, lovably eccentric—often draped in a kaleidoscope of wild colours that seemed to say, “It is not about how I look; it is about how I love.” He had no interest in the superficial; he clothed himself in the bright radiance of a joyful heart, and just to look at him could bring a smile to your face.
His life was already a quest for Truth when Zenji met Moojibaba in 2006. Recognising he had found his Master, Zenji immediately offered his life to Satsang. For two decades, he worked with tireless devotion as an editor and publisher, helping to share his Master’s words in books that have been read in nearly every corner of the world.

Zenji was present in Monte Sahaja right from its very first days in 2011. He found his heaven on earth in those hills, at the feet of Moojibaba, and rarely felt the need to leave. He was a pillar of the community, with boundless energy, always having space for whatever was needed in the moment. Zenji was the one who would quietly take your dinner plate to wash it, carry your heavy bags without being asked, and ensure your every need was met before he thought of his own.

Zenji embodied the commitment to being a true friend to every soul he encountered. His circle of friends, spanning every corner of the globe, was as diverse as his wardrobe.
Above all, Zenji’s life was a testament to the Recognition of Truth. His contemplation of the Master’s pointings was unceasing, and his zest for Freedom expressed itself as pure, selfless service (Seva). He didn’t just study the Truth; he lived with a conscious commitment to his own freedom.

This film is a loving tribute to our Zenji, our dear friend and sangha brother, and a pillar in the Monte Sahaja community. With scenes and moments from his vibrantly colourful life, as well as reflections and memories from Sahaja sangha who so deeply appreciated him, we full-heartedly invite the worldwide sangha into Zenji’s wise, caring, and light-hearted presence.
True to his nature, this film is not just about Zenji, but is also a tribute to his two great loves — his Master, Moojibaba, and the holy land of Monte Sahaja.

I met Zenji Baba in 2007 at Guruji’s house in London.
I loved him from the first moment I met him; his kindness and lightheartedness were contagious.
Then I saw him again in India and finally at Monte Sahaja.
He was always close to me, and I always received his love; the joy in his voice and his way of sharing entered my heart directly, without even knocking.
He was always present with his Presence and with words that came from his knowledge of Guruji’s teachings.
Many times he uplifted me with phrases that I still remember.
He once told me: “If you go with conditioning, you encounter conditioning.”
In his heart was the desire for Truth and devotion to the Master, to the Seva, and to the Sangha.
When I sat next to him, I felt at peace.
I spoke in the past tense, but Zenji is all of this, always and always will be.
I feel his love so strong in my heart.
When we say of someone who leaves us that they will always be with us, Zenji’s love is an example and a strong and real experience in my heart.

I first came in contact with Zenji some years ago when I wrote to Guruji (who was in india for Satsang) for his blessing, prior to surgery.Shortly afterwards I received a very loving email from Zenji, imbued with guruji’s grace and blessings. After that, we met briefly each time I visited Monte Sahaja.Zenji was a beautiful being. I certainly felt the Grace of his love and presence and always touched by his humility and lightness.Recently Zenji came in a vivid dream during the Lisbon retreat, radiating as a pure Being of light. I haven‘t had much direct exchange with Zenji, only a view words in fact.
But some looks we exchanged were somehow a mutual understanding. A kind of deeper knowing that I came to fully understand only after his leaving.
He gracefully represented the ‚crazy monk‘ he so often and lovingly invited us to play in the laughing yoga sessions with him. Always a knowing and witty smile on his face. Always humble spaciousness around him.
At the ceremonies I wondered what touched me so much deeper than saying farewell to a beloved being.
It was the shared acknowledgement and appreciation of us all for the humble, caring and loving spaciousness he had with him in all simplicity.
He is still with us.

2017 I wrote a letter to Guruji about my father’s illness， Zenji answered me the letter with Guruji’s blessings. Not long later my father passed away and miraculous things happened during that time which I knew were from Guruji‘s blessing. I felt very grateful for Guruji and also for Zenji. Thus when I got chance to visit Monte Sahaja later and met Zenji physically I specially asked to hug him and say “thank you!” to him！ He is since then in my heart as one of special member in spiritual family in Sahaja. I must have hugged him every time when I visited Monte Sahaja since then.In end of Jan. 2024 on the journey of leaving Sahaja, Zenji and I were in Mohan’s car together we went to Lisbon. I was so happy to have him on the journey as it’s such a beautiful and unforgettable journey. After arrived in Lisbon we hugged and say goodbye to each other！ I didn’t know that was the last time I hugged him physically but now his spirit is so much with me and I know he loves all of us so much and I love him very much too！ Thank you，dearest Zenji，for the journey、for the loving kindness、for all your giving、 for who you are、for everything！

I first met Zenji in 2013 on my first visit to Monte Sahaja. I was immediately struck by his warmth, humour, kindness, and his unwavering love for Truth and his Master, Mooji Baba. He made everyone feel welcome and at ease in his presence. I personally found that his uniquely colourful and informal expression gave me huge permission to be myself and not to feel pressured to fit into some idea of how to be, appear, or how to dress in that environment. Zenji was the first sangha member I ever met or spoke to when I first visited Sahaja in 2019. I was having a very difficult time my first couple of nights with strong mind attacks that I almost couldn’t bear. There was not a mitra program at the time, but that’s exactly what Zenji was for me. He listened to me and held space for me while I shared my troubling experience, and although I had quite literally just met him, he made me feel unconditionally loved and supported in a way I perhaps had never even felt with my closest friends or family. He guided me with pointers that truly felt like we had our own satsang together, gently and wisely helping me overcome the strong attacks I was having. Years later upon my return visits to Sahaja, he has always remained a beloved mitra to me and we shared several deep moments and conversations together. I have a profound love and respect for him and I am blessed to have known him. I first met Zenji in 2012 on my first visit to Monte Sahaja. Zenji was taking groups of people around the land, almost like a tour guide!. He was very precise and caring in the way he described the various areas, with patience and precision. This struck me at the time. . He had great love for Mooji and referred to Mooji with enormous love and respect. He exuded devotion, in a natural, unpretentious way. Zenji did not seem to have a personal axe to grind. This is what made him impressive to me. He was so genuine. Just being himself.
I also had the privilege of spending time with Zenji and Turiya at that visit, in a small caravan parked up just above the eating area. This Zenji described as his H.Q.. Here we edited one of the early books together, and I realised how insightful and intelligent Zenji was,.always diligently wanting to truthfully portray his Master’s words.
Zenji was exceptionally conscientious in all the tasks he did and despite being self deprecating, he was exceptionally capable. He worked for his Master in whatever he did, and was a wonderful example of seva in action.
On recent visits Zenji and I enjoyed lots of belly laughter together. We just seemed to connect, and enjoyed each others company. Being with Zenji usually involved laughter.
I was very touched that on my last visit, despite me leaving in the early hours of the morning, Zenji insisted on coming to say goodbye to me.( I did not know then that Zenji had cancer.) We joked that he was one of my “heartical” lovers. I treasure those last pictures of his open, smiling face: so clear and shining. Zenji was a genuine inspiration to me, and I shall miss him.

This news caught me off guard, and I feel very sad. It is hard to believe that you are no longer around.
I remember the sound of your voice—cracking jokes and laughing at them wholeheartedly in our small office, all while meticulously proofreading a newly printed book. You were a pillar in the publications team too, our little micro-family.
I’ll never forget that early breakfast shift when we were paired together. I was a clueless rookie, and you prepared food for nearly a hundred people single-handedly, without a trace of stress.
And those colourful outfits. I was once jokingly reprimanded for daring to “compete” with you in Sahaja when I showed up in bright purple trousers and a psychedelic dress. You were in a league of your own.
Not just in style, but in patience, in kindness, in always being ready to listen or help.
Thank you for your warmth, for the right words at the right time, and for showing how to meet everything that came your way with an open heart.

I am sorry to learn of Zenji‘s passing, whereas it is more a transition than passing.
I know Zenji from the many retreats in Zmar Portugal. He also joined the German Sangha Zoom meetings where he shared his utmost love with one and all. He was always gentle, loving and helpful. During my visit to Monte Sahaja, again I had a chance to meet him and spend some time with him. He was always at peace and exuded this quiet serenity in his dealings. He will be sorely missed on the earthly level.
Such a blessing that he transitioned in our Master’s presence at Monte Sahaja.
