In honour of Rishi Ivars Grimalt

Our beloved sangha brother, Rishi Ivars Grimalt, left the body peacefully on 9th January 2026, at 11:37am in Spain, with his beloved wife Devi and friend Cristina by his side, and beloved children Ananda and Stoyan nearby.

Rishi has been a disciple of Guruji’s for many years. Those of us who know him well cannot remember a time when he was not fully in love with everything—life, family, sangha, and most importantly, his Beloved Guruji.

Life could not present any kind of ‘struggle’ to challenge Rishi’s faith. Even Rishi’s cancer, which he fought for many years, could never dampen his spirit. He was always full of faith, love and gratitude.

Rishi and Devi would often break into spontaneous rapturous songs at the sight of Guruji. At the sight of Guruji, they would fall to the ground and prostrate at his feet. To witness this kind of love and devotion is more than inspiring, it is transformative.

Rishi and Devi own a beautiful plant nursery in Benissa, Alicante, where they lived and worked on the south east coast of Spain. Every so often, they would surprise Guruji with some love gift—a tropical plant, a massive stone sculpture or even half an Indian rickshaw. Once, unexpectedly, they turned up with an enormous six meter Bodhi tree strapped precariously on the back of a small truck. The tree was so huge that it hung off the back of the truck and over the cabin in the front, turning the already long drive into a slow 14 hour crawl. They drove through the night from Alicante Spain to Monte Sahaja to present the auspicious gift to their master.

Here you can watch a short clip of Rishi with the Bodhi tree. It was sent to Moojibaba from their nursery in Spain, before transporting the tree to Monte Sahaja.

In a Satsang titled ‘Guru Darshan’, Rishi read his poem to Guruji:
You can watch the excerpt from the Satsang here.

The Lord built a place on earth.
It is so far away and so close.
There is a fountain well of love within.
Every day the master serves a holy banquet.
It is the richest meal that has ever been offered.
The only ingredient is Truth.
The Lord has a place on earth.
Only Grace provides the invitation.
The master sits inside the heart.
Waits for the beloved to recognise Him.
They melt in the Oneness of God.
Hallelujah
Amen

Upon hearing the news of Rishi’s passing, Guruji uttered these words:

Devi is smiling because she is happy, she knows that he is not suffering. Even when he was in the body, the pain was naturally present, but she knew him and knew it was not he who was suffering. The body-mind is the dwelling place for the life force. We are here with this also. The body is our vehicle in this world, we must make good use of it, not just to drive about blindly. A wise soul perceives the world as though looking through a mirror in which we can see God, a thing which is impossible with only fleshly eyes. With fleshly eyes, you cannot see God. But true eyes are connected with the heart-Self. In English, the words ‘I’ and ‘eye’ have the same sound. One we look through, and the other we look from and as. Eyes in the head are a lens through which we can see the manifest world. But that which looks and sees is not merely the eyes of flesh (ego) but the true ‘I’–the ‘I Am’ consciousness Self. Hallelujah.

Jai Rishi Baba. Jai Rishi Maharaj. Jai Rishiji. Rishi of the Heart. Rishi of the Lord. Bless bless bless bless, my son. And in turn you bless us while we journey on through these vehicles we call the body. I am feeling a little something, like some sadness wants to come in and say something. But I say, no no no. Look, another one is set free! What is there to be sad about? Let there be some sadness if someone leaves with unfinished business. Okay it is like that, we can accept. It is the norm. But when one leaves in the state that he Is, we are compelled to rejoice and give thanks and glory to God that such a being walked amongst us, in form, who is awake to his eternal nature. This is our beloved Rishi, my Rishi Baba. Yes, ‘King Yogi Rishi’. And now his presence and love will bless even more the Sangha of the world, Hallelujah.

Rishi Baba, My dearest friend, my beloved friend–Hallelujah! If you have a friend like him, you are already blessed. But you must find the true gem. You see, some beings are like a raw but precious stone, but it has to be carved and polished to see the real beauty. But even rough and unpolished, it is still beautiful. And some beings have always been just beautiful. A little refinement, a little rub, a little polish, and they are sparkling, like a celestial gem.

My Rishi is finished with this place now and finished with this earth body that he was wearing for a while. Now, he is home again—undiluted, perfect and complete joy.

Hallelujah!
