About Monte Sahaja

Monte Sahaja is Moojibaba’s home and the Centre for Self Realisation. It is located in the hills of the Alentejo region, about two hours south of Lisbon in the rural area of Portugal. Monte Sahaja is a centre deeply supportive of meditation and Self-inquiry, with many contemplative areas created by Moojibaba himself. The word ‘Sahaja’ means the natural state of Being, and all that happens here is entirely dedicated to the realisation of the Self. Sahaja is also a lighthouse that shares Moojibaba’s teachings worldwide.

Living and working alongside Moojibaba has given rise to the Sahaja Precepts—essential guidance which reflects the focus of life in Monte Sahaja.

Visiting Sahaja

Monte Sahaja is open for visits on selected periods throughout the year. The centre is not open for drop-in or casual visits, and is for those who are closely following Moojibaba’s pointings.

Sahaja closes a few times a year: for team retreat, due to extreme temperatures, or when rest is needed.

Without exception, it is necessary to apply and receive an invitation before coming.

Guest Stays

One of the best times to visit Monte Sahaja is during a guest stay (typically seven to ten days), which we have from time to time. We are looking at scheduling one later this year. When something is confirmed, an update will be shared here on this page and we will send a notification email to Sahaja Express subscribers.

For a guest stay, there is the requirement to have been on Sahaja Express for at least 6 months. If this applies to you, you are welcome to submit an application here for future stays. If you are interested in coming to a guest stay this year we encourage you to already apply so we have your application on hand when something is scheduled.

About the Sahaja Express Requirement
Moojibaba would like to work with those who are deeply committed to Self-discovery and have been consistently following his guidance for some time. The satsangs on Sahaja Express allow each one to be in the current pulse of Moojibaba’s sharing, and are essential preparation for making the most of a visit to Monte Sahaja. If you haven’t been on Sahaja Express for 6 months but would like to ask for an exception, you are welcome to write to us through the contact form.

Update: Closure April 2026 & Guest Stays

Monte Sahaja is strictly closed for the month of April 2026.

One of the best times to visit Monte Sahaja is during a guest stay, which we have from time to time. When a stay is confirmed, an update will be shared here on this page, and we will send a notification email Sahaja Express subscribers. We are looking at scheduling one later this year. Note that for a guest stay at Sahaja, there is generally the requirement to have been on Sahaja Express for at least 6 months.

Update: Upcoming Lisbon Intensive & Monte Sahaja Closed April 2026

There will be a Lisbon Intensive this 23-27 March 2026. We have received requests from sangha who would like to visit Sahaja after the intensive, but this will not be possible.

Monte Sahaja will be strictly closed for the month of April 2026, following the Lisbon Intensive.

The best time to visit Monte Sahaja is during a guest stay, which we have from time to time—we are looking at scheduling one later this year. When a stay is confirmed, an update will be shared here on this page, and we will email Sahaja Express. Note that for a guest stay at Sahaja, there is requirement to have been on Sahaja Express for at least 6 months.

Update: Upcoming Lisbon Intensive March 2026

15 January 2026

There will be a Lisbon Intensive this 23-27 March 2026. We have gotten requests from sangha who would like to visit Sahaja after the intensive, but this will not be possible. Moojibaba and the team’s energy and focus are fully dedicated to the event in Lisbon, and the period following the intensive is a time for rest, when Moojibaba will not be available.

This is also an important time for quiet reflection and assimilation of all that was offered. We have found that when Moojibaba makes himself available ongoingly, there is a strong tendency to ‘want more’ and the attention goes outward, instead of inward where it belongs after a retreat with Moojibaba.

The best time to visit Monte Sahaja is during a guest stay, which we have from time to time. When a guest stay is confirmed, an update will be shared here on this page. Note that for a guest stay at Sahaja, there is usually the requirement to have been on Sahaja Express for at least 6 months.

Update: November 2025 Closure & October Guest Stay

12 October 2025

Monte Sahaja will be fully closed for the month of November, the same as it was for August. Thanks to everyone who honoured this closure, it was a very supportive and important time.

We recently sent out an update sharing that we would like to open day visits in October to the wider sangha, however after further consideration we realised that the small local village would not be able to accommodate the number of travellers who would like to visit.

Instead, we would like to focus on having more periods where we open for guests to come stay on the land, and we are starting with an additional guest stay in October. The guest stay has already been booked, as there was enough interest to fill this stay from those who couldn’t come in September.

We would like to continue having Guest Stays in the future, and are also looking into the possibility of day visits in smaller numbers. For now, we are taking it one step at a time, starting with the October Guest Stay, and then the November closure.

Thank you for your continued support in not making plans to come to the area with the hope to visit Sahaja, without first receiving an invitation. We will be in touch as our schedule is confirmed.

The team at Monte Sahaja puts much love and care into recording and sharing Moojibaba’s satsangs online, so those following around the world can be present with his current pointings. We care for these offerings deeply as we know the power of being able to follow in this way.

Sahaja Express is our subscription-based offering where we share the many potent and profound satsangs that arise from daily-life with Moojibaba, for those who are following his pointings closely and would like to dive deeper.
