A Tribute to Tiru

4 Oct, 2020 | 38:16 | Sahaja Journal

This stunningly atmospheric and touching film is imbued with the power, beauty and presence of the holy mountain known as Arunachala and the bustling town of Tiruvannamalai in the South of India. Tiruvannamalai, and in particular Arunachala became known around the world as the earthly abode of countless Sadhus, Mahatmas and great Sages such as Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi—the Sage of Arunachala, and Sri Yogi Ramsuratkumar—the Godchild of Tiruvannamalai who Moojibaba had the good fortune to meet.

A Tribute to Tiru shares the story of Moojibaba, a renowned and much loved spiritual teacher as he returns to Tiruvannamalai after many years sharing Satsang around the world. This short and inspiring film documents a remarkable journey of a heart-warming homecoming and the deep connection Moojibaba has with this powerful place, its honoured Sages and people.

Seekers of Truth from all parts of the world are drawn to Tiruvannamalai and the mystical and majestic presence of Mount Arunachala, said to be the physical embodiment of Lord Shiva on Earth. Sri Ramana Maharshi refers to the holy mountain as ‘the Spiritual Heart of the world’. It is also lovingly known as the ‘hill of wisdom’ and is a potent centre of pilgrimage especially for non-dual seekers of Truth. Tiruvannamalai attracts countless pilgrims each year. Walking clockwise around this sacred mountain (Giri Pradakshina), is believed to be one of the most auspicious spiritual practices for seekers of Liberation (Moksha).

Moojibaba first travelled to Tiruvannamalai in early 1994. On his second visit in 2005, he spontaneously began sharing Satsang after being approached by seekers drawn to his peaceful and loving presence. Over the course of the following 7 years, thousands of seekers travelled to attend Satsangs with Mooji at the foot of Arunachala. Tiruvannamalai thus became the birthplace of Moojibaba’s Satsangs in India. His love and deep connection to this sacred place and its people transports us right into the heart and soul of Arunachala Shiva through this extraordinary film.
